TWA

To the ladies that have made the life changing decision to cut off their relaxed hair , welcome to the natural hair world!
This journey will no doubt be a rollercoaster of an experience!!!!!!! Many women who do a big chop may not be used to having short hair and therefore feeling feminine may be a difficult task, here are some tips on how to maintain a healthy feminine look as well as healthy hair.

1) Wash and condition your hair at least twice a week. The temptation to wash your hair more often than this may occur but constant washing of Afro textured hair prevents the natural oils your scalp creates from moisturizing your scalp if you constantly wash. (and you probably want your hair products to last for more than a month =P)

2) Sleep with a satin bonnet, or silk scarf of some sort, this will prevent hair loss and aid length retention. If you still own those cotton bandanas you're wasting your time because all the product you just put into your hair is just going to bleed through that thing and jack up your pillow, leaving you with dry hair and an oily pillow.. Who wins there??

3) Exercise protective styling, but make sure that it does not add tension to the edges of your hair, especially the hairline. If you use hair extensions, do styles that reflect your hair texture.

4) Accessorise like crazy! Not only with hair accessories, e.g. flowers, bows, headbands, but also wearing earrings as these can take your look from mundane to glamorous. (but make sure they do not have metal!!!!!)

5) Smile! It’s that simple! Go head and show off your natural locks and keep your chin held high!!!

Wait... What is a TWA??

A TWA, fellow readers, is a Teeny Weeny Afro; and is commonly worn after doing a big chop. This is when there are only a few inches of hair on your head, leaving you with limited styling options :/

For those who feel as though a TWA makes you less feminine, you can always spice it up with big earrings, bows, scarfs, and heels. Having short hair shouldn't take away from your femininity or make you feel like you don't look good. In fact, many women who do sport a TWA have an air of superiority when you see them walk by.

Because when you finally become naturally many experience liberation and an air of confidence.
Whether you like short hair on you, or others, it shouldn't make an impact on your decision to go natural.
